Perry "the pig bear"

Meet Perry

Perry "the Pig Bear" showed up at our farm one Friday evening in May 2024. We don't know where he came from but we assume he was dumped "in the country" and wandered to our place. After over a week of searching for his home or trying to find a rescue to take him (they were either full or wouldn't take him because he's an intact male) we decided to settle him into a new home with us.

He's a Mangalista Pig, a boar, and we estimate he's about 2 years old. He's obviously been loved as he's sweet, socialized, loves back scratches and hand feeding of treats. You can follow along on his Instagram page (click the link to go there or search: @perrypigbear) for sassy swine content, an occasional pig pun, and all the fun a spoiled pig can have with mud baths and the community who loves him.

Why "Pig Bear"

When Perry first showed up, he was roaming around our property. As a big (300+ lbs guy with dark curly bristly hair, his silhouette could be confused as a bear... and thus that's how he got the nickname "Pig Bear".
